They say books die every time they are turned into a movie; what do you think?
I disagree with this fact, as the movie brings in more fame to the author and more people tend to read the book. Many shows and great movies are based on novels, thereby motivating the author to write even more.
Even though you have shown your skills in the area of mystery thriller fiction, which genre of literature attracts/inspires you the most?
I am a big fan of novels based on true stories, followed by crime thrillers.
Why did you choose writing as a profession? Or what made you decide to take up the pen as a medium to express yourself? How do you feel about writing?
I have been writing ever since I was a child, the only difference was that i used to write short stories of a page or two and compile them in a small notebook. On growing up I realized I had to write a novel and get it out in the market for readers to read and enjoy. I love writing, and every time I sit down, I enter my “Writing Zone”, which is where my mind is focused and zoned into the story I am writing, resulting in new ideas and various plots. I enjoy this part, as I get to expand my horizon and venture more into the depth of whatever I am writing.
Please tell us about the author/authors who inspire you. What do you do when it gets difficult to write?
Authors that inspire me are A.J. Finn, Agatha Christie, Ruskin Bond. When it gets difficult to write, I put myself in the novel as a character and think from the character’s perspective. This technique always leads to a solution and I hence overcome the difficulty I am facing.
What was the most challenging moment in this book?
The most challenging part of this book was to choose the ending. I had multiple endings decided for this book, but as the story progressed, I was focused on one.
What message do you want to give to aspiring authors? And whom they can look up to?
For aspiring authors : –
Get in the writing zone when you write, and make sure you are 100% focused on your work, with absolutely no distractions, because this is when the best ideas are generated.
They can look up to the people they get motivated from and transform this motivation into hard work, and come out with a masterpiece.
What are the key elements that led you into writing- The Overview Motel?
I have been a fan of crime thrillers and that’s one of the main reasons i decided to write a crime thriller fiction novel. I changed the script many times while writing, making sure it’s not a streamlined storyline, and that encouraged me to write even more.
What theme and subject matter do you have in mind for your next book or venture?
My next book is going to be a compilation of short true stories, and I have already started the process of writing.
Does the process of writing energize you or exhaust you?
The process of writing energizes me as I stumble upon new thoughts and ideas, making me expand my horizon to think, write and read. This further brings energy into my state of mind, and I tend to write even more.
